COMPASSION VILLAGE TINY HOMES

In Partnership with churches, businesses, PIA and CDCR, The e49 Foundation and Real Estate with Purpose, design and build Tiny Homes for people experiencing Homelessness in Sacramento

Press Release: COMPASSION VILLAGE/The Creator’s Place open in Del Paso

We are pleased to announce the joint opening of The Creator’s Place @ The Artisan and Compassion Village in the Del Paso area. Both are projects of The e49 Foundation who brought together partners from around the region to build the 1st Tiny Home Village of it’s kind in Sacramento as a response to Homelessness and Poverty in the Del Paso area. The e49 Foundation focuses on bringing together Leaders and developing innovative solutions to social issues. With Purpose, Inc., a Social Impact Real Estate Company and Compassion Enterprises, Inc., a Social Impact Product and Services Company, are key partners in the effort.

The Compassion Village portion of the project was kicked off by Pastor Dan Axtell and churches in the region including Restoration Life, St. Paul’s COGIC, Fremont Presbyterian Church, St. Marks Church, Oak Park Methodist, The Ebenezer Family, The River Church, Real Life and Adventure Churches in Natomas, BOSS Church in South Sacramento, Harvest, Sun Grove and Thrive Churches in Elk Grove and Destiny, Life Community, Life Points and Life Churches …in the Roseville/Rocklin area.  Each of these churches financially sponsored a home and most of the homes were designed and built by congregants in the building trades professionally. A special thank you to Eric and Aaron Love for laboriously documenting the entire first build process so that the designs could be submitted to ANSI for certification and then used by every general contractor thereafter!

As the project grew, CEO Tammy Vallejo, worked with Monterey partner, R3, to secure a partnership with The Prison Industry Authority, CDCR’s Social Enterprise Division and CDCR’s CTE vocational programs in the prisons across California to train and teach inmates building skills while building Tiny Homes. PIA has built three of the tiny homes to date, including the latest awarding winning design and model being launched in December. The latest design came out of a partnership and design awards through AIA. The winning design, The Unity Home, was designed by LPA Design Studios. Other financial sponsors include SMUD, Wells Fargo, Lowes, Christa Proctor & Associates , Vallara Building Systems and many individual donors.

The final partnership for The Creator’s Place and Compassion Village projects was securing the location in Del Paso for the Social Enterprises that would continue to fuel the Village operations and future Village sites. The Creator’s Place is a partnership between The e49 Foundation and Real Life Church in Natomas. The Creator’s Place is a 15,000 square foot commercial space with office space, gallery, theatre and event space. The Creator’s Place will open as a co-working and makers space where someone can create and innovate new products and services, a marketplace and Café where they can sell and test the products and a theatre, studio and main event stage for events, catering, corporate media production and schools to teach what has been learned.

Homelessness and Poverty are interdependent issues that need interdependent solutions. The e49 Foundation is focused on solving these issues by starting with housing, then connecting individuals and families to services, building community around them and finally, teaching entrepreneurship and providing the right opportunities to step up and step out of the systems and situations that keep people bound.  For more information go to compassionvillage.org and thecreatorsplace.com
